Fun-filled Event Returns to Howarth Park

Grupo Folklórico Quetzalén takes its name from the quetzal bird, considered a symbol of luminescence and life by Mayan and Axtec cultures. The group, which performs traditional Mexican dance and music, will be part of the talented and diverse entertainment lineup at the third annual Child in the Wild event, taking place on June 1, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., at Howarth Park in Santa Rosa.

The free event is a family celebration in nature to raise awareness for the Southeast Greenway.  Kids are invited to stop by the Southeast Greenway booth under the gazebo for face painting, games, and a chance to win a brand-new bike.  They can also enjoy a bounce house and over a dozen booths with nature activities.

Performance Schedule:

  • 12:00 pm Sonoma County Pomo Dancers
  • 1:00 pm ZunZun
  • 2:00 pm Grupo Folklórico Quetzalén
  • 2:30 pm Redwood Empire Chinese Association Lion and Dragon Dancers
  • 3:00 pm Jeffrey Bearheart & The Wild Ones
  • 3:30 pm Danza Xantotl

Sonoma Land Trust and the Southeast Greenway are partners for this community event, which drew hundreds of families to Howarth Park in 2024. This year we are thrilled to celebrate the acquisition of the Southeast Greenway by the City of Santa Rosa.  Stop by and learn more about our future park!
