Old walnut trees cleaned up by Santa Rosa Parks Maintenance

If you travel along Summerfield Road, you might have noticed some tree work getting done on the Southeast Greenway in late March. Now that the City of Santa Rosa owns the property, much needed maintenance has begun. A parks maintenance crew trimmed dead branches from the old walnut grove and mowed the weeds, giving the edge of the new park property a great look for spring. The image above, taken by volunteer Jim McAdler, shows the completed work.

Last week, parks crews from the City of Santa Rosa stopped by and chipped up all the dead branches, leaving the area in great shape. Thanks to the Parks Department for giving the orchard some TLC!  Photos: Mary Schmidt
