The Southeast Greenway is looking for new volunteers to join our team!

Do you have a few hours a month to give to a positive, transformative project? We’re seeking new volunteers to join our team. Whether you’re interested in helping with outreach, guiding walks, or tabling at events, there are many ways to get involved.

To help us recruit and support volunteers, Sue Field has joined the Campaign as our new Volunteer Coordinator (pictured center in photo above). She brings a wealth of experience from her career as the Superintendent of Bennett Valley Unified School District, and is eager to get more community members involved in this important project.

Sue first became drawn to the Greenway because she wanted to invest her time in something that would make a lasting, positive impact on the community. “I hike at Annadel, Spring Lake, and other nearby parks all the time,” she explains. “This is a way for me to give back in a way that will pay dividends for future generations.”

Sue believes that now is a particularly exciting time for the Southeast Greenway. With the land officially acquired by the City, we’re entering the master planning phase, where the community will come together to shape the vision for the future park. “The master planning process offers a unique opportunity for creative thought, to develop and refine a collective vision of what the park can become,” Sue says. “Once that phase is finished, we’ll start to see those ideas put into action.”

As we move forward, Sue sees volunteers playing a vital role in bringing that vision to life. She explains, “The Southeast Greenway is an inclusive project, and we want to benefit from the ideas, creative thinking, and hard work of every interested community member. There are so many ways people can contribute, whether it’s through guiding walks, spreading the word, or helping with the planning process.”

Volunteers also educate the public about the land, and engage in outreach efforts through our website, newsletters, social media, and tabling at community events. As the planning process moves forward, there will be opportunities to share ideas, educate the public about this new park, and participate in special events.

“There’s a place for anyone interested in helping out, whether it’s now or in the near future as we move into the development stages,” Sue emphasizes. “The needs will continue to evolve, and we would love to have you join us!” To get involved, complete this online questionnaire or reach out to Sue at volunteer@southeastgreenway.org and highlight your skills and interests.
