Monthly Guided Walks on the Southeast Greenway a Popular Event
We’re excited to host a new series of monthly walks on the Santa Rosa Southeast Greenway. Every second Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. to noon, participants enjoy a gentle, guided hike through this beautiful, evolving space. Greenway guides share stories about the property’s history and its future as a Santa Rosa city park.
The walks are free, but space is limited to 30 participants, and registration is required. These events have been filling up fast, and participants have been enthusiastic about exploring the property. Why not invite a friend and join us to see it for yourself!
Along the way, you’ll learn about the creeks that cross the property, the animals and birds that migrate through, and hear about what’s to come—including a bike/pedestrian path, community gardens, and playgrounds. We’ll also answer questions and encourage you to share your ideas. The most common question we get is “Why is it taking so long for the Southeast Greenway to become a park?”
The answer is that our volunteer group worked hard for 15 years to help support the sale of the property from CalTrans. It was a complicated process, but now that the City of Santa Rosa owns the property, the master planning process can finally begin. We want the community to be engaged in this process so we all see the park evolve in the best possible ways. Sign up for an upcoming walk and learn more.
