Inspiration Close to Home

In April, members of The Southeast Greenway Campaign met with Michael Boland, Chief Park Officer of The Presidio Trust to tour the Presidio Tunnel Tops park in San Francisco. Tunnel Tops was designed by the same landscape architect who created the High Line in New York. Michael Boland shared much of the history of the Tunnel Tops project and also shared information about the High Line Network, an organization dedicated to infrastructure reuse projects and the people who are bringing them to life. The Tunnel Tops project is a model for what can be done to make a natural space that is inclusive. Michael helped us envision play spaces that are accessible, and that can engage people of all ages. We are lucky to have this amazing resource close by. We hope that you have a chance to visit this remarkable San Francisco treasure.
